This work addressed the problem of using monitoring for keeping track of user activity inside a large-scale distributed storage system. Our goal was to determine the possible malicious user actions. To reach this goal, we designed a monitoring system based on the MonALISA framework to gather data and to store it into a distributed database. We collected a set of specific BlobSeer data and we processed them in an online manner, so as to provide an almost real-time image of the user activity in the system, to detect malicious protocol breaches and to possibly block the clients with malicious intentions.
