This project developed an interface able to support BlobSeer as a (web or cloud) distributed storage service, enhanced with fairness policies. These configurable policies reffer to “rewarding” users which inject new content into the system (through data writes) and “penalize” users which collect data from the system (through excessive read operations).

The system's functionality is similar to existing services like Rapidshare, yet bringing the versioning and high concurrency support of BlobSeer, which are not supported by the existing solutions. Implemented policies for rewarding vary from priorities in upload / download queues to extensive storage space for the privileged users. The penalties respectively vary from delays in downloads to access restrictions.
